Alekseyevskaya fair

Kotelnich's authorities has decided when the ennual Alekseyevskaya fair will take place, it'll happen on March 16-17, 2013.
Alekseyevskaya fair is a very old tradition, it started 366 years ago. The fair used to be a big event not only for the town and it's surroundings but for the whole Vyatka province. During the times of Russian Empire the Alekseyevskaya fair was somewhat a "schtick" of Kotelnich.
The name of the fair comes from the name of Alexius of Rome, a Man of God, who was said to be the patron/angel of the town. As the fair took place during Lent it wasn't distinguished by colourfulness nor joy. But the time had passed and the situation changed, people could hear music and find some other entertainments. The turnover was quite big. But in the beginnig of 20th century the fair ceased to be and was restarted only recently.
At the fair one can find different types of goods.

Here are couple photos from Alekseyevskaya fair 2007.
